Granite Staters for Medical Marijuana'Take Action!

The Marijuana Policy Project has unveiled a new Web site that will rank all nine Democratic presidential candidates and President Bush on the issue of medical marijuana. (We will add the Libertarian, Green, and other presidential candidates at a later date.) The grades are on a sliding scale with respect to each candidate's history and statements on the issue. With your help, we will make medical marijuana a major issue in 2004.

It is time to find out what each of the presidential candidates thinks about medical marijuana, and you can have a direct effect on his or her stance. Please visit Granite Staters to contact the candidates and ask them how they feel about DEA agents' arresting seriously ill patients who rely on marijuana to treat illness.

E-mail the candidates and tell them that you are a New Hampshire resident who is concerned about the treatment of medical marijuana patients. Ask them if they would stop the arrest and imprisonment of seriously ill patients. Tell Dennis Kucinich that you appreciate his positive stance on medical marijuana. Tell Howard Dean that he needs to take a compassionate stand on this issue. Tell President Bush that DEA raids are inhumane. This is your chance to ensure that medical marijuana is a top issue in the 2004 election.

The New Hampshire primary will be held on January 27, 2004. We have time to turn up the heat on the candidates who refuse to make this an issue—through direct contact, media, and candidate forums. With your help, all of the candidates will be inspired to take positive stands on medical marijuana.

Please let us know how the candidates respond to your e-mails. In addition, if you are interested in volunteering for Granite Staters, please visit Get Active. Or you can call Granite Staters' Manchester office at (603) 669-2962.
