Final push for medical marijuana in N.H.
For the last several weeks, a conference committee of House and Senate members has been working on amending HB 648, the medical marijuana bill, to address eight concerns Gov. John Lynch (D) had about the original version of the bill. This committee has completed its work on HB 648 and sent the amended version back to the House and Senate for new votes.
Each chamber is scheduled to vote on the amended version on Wednesday, June 24. Although the bill has been amended to address Gov. Lynch's stated concerns, we still don't know if he will sign it.
The more senators and representatives who vote for the new bill on Wednesday the stronger the message will be that Gov. Lynch should let it become law. So please contact your state legislators now and urge them to support HB 648.
If you are willing to do even more, please ask all of your friends and family members in New Hampshire to take action. If you are a patient, clergy member, or medical professional, please e-mail me at zhurst@mpp.org to see how you could be of special help in these final days. With your help, we can end the cruel practice of arresting and prosecuting sick and dying patients for using their medicine. |
