Drug Tests Approved for McQueen Footbal Team
The Washoe County School Board has unanimously approved random drug testing for the McQueen High School Football team. The pilot program will begin at the beginning of the upcoming football season.
Each week of the 15-week season 12 players will be randomly tested for 14 different drugs including alcohol, marijuana, steroids and ecstasy. Each test costs $37, and they will be paid for by the McQueen football program.
Head football coach Ken Dalton says he's excited about the program and thinks it will help guide student athletes away from drugs and alcohol.
This is the first drug testing program to be implemented in Washoe County. Dalton hopes that the program will eventually expand to other Washoe County high schools. |
