MT: Ask your representative to fix S.B. 423 before its passage

Message:

As the repeal bill, H.B. 161, moves to Gov. Schweitzer’s desk, there still remains one last hope to ”fix, not nix” Montana’s medical marijuana program. While S.B. 423 is a punishing regulatory bill, its passage with the inclusion of certain amendments could preserve medical marijuana in Montana.

Please call your representative and urge him or her to support key amendments to S.B. 423, and then vote for its passage. Please also post the link to this alert on Facebook.

S.B. 423 passed the Senate overwhelmingly, 36-14. It will be heard by the House Human Services Committee this Wednesday, April 6. While S.B. 423 preserves patient cultivation and qualifying conditions, it would make it far more difficult and expensive for pain patients to qualify. It would also set up a flawed system of growers and separate couriers. The proposed amendments attempt to establish a more workable system and ensure legitimate patients can qualify.

A big thank you to Tom Daubert and Patients and Families United for their continued stellar lobbying and organizing efforts.

P.S. Don’t forget to ask Gov. Schweitzer to veto medical marijuana repeal.
