Title:

Mont.: Gov. Schweitzer vetoes medical marijuana repeal bill!

Message:

The looming shadow of repeal has been lifted in Montana today, with Gov. Brian Schweitzer vetoing H.B. 161, a bill that would have completely repealed Montana’s medical marijuana program.

Thanks to all who contacted Gov. Schweitzer and urged him to veto this cruel legislation! A big thank you also goes out to Tom Daubert and Patients and Families United for their continued lobbying and organizing efforts.

In related news, S.B. 423, a harsh regulatory bill, is still alive in the Montana Legislature. Initially an imperfect bill, S.B. 423 first passed the Senate, then went on to the House where it was amended to a virtually unworkable form. The House passed it yesterday, and it now heads back to the Senate for approval. Please call your senator and ask him or her to reject the House amendments to S.B. 423. Although Montana’s medical marijuana law needs fixing, the current form of the bill is impracticable, and changes must be made to preserve patients’ ability to safely and legally access their medicine.

Thanks for your continued support!
