Medical marijuana bill introduced last session but not assigned to committee -- act today to ensure medical marijuana is addressed this session

Although Rep. Thomas Villa (D-108th) and seven co-sponsors introduced a medical marijuana bill last session, it was not assigned to committee where it could receive a hearing. HB 1138 would have protected seriously ill medical marijuana patients from arrest and prosecution in Missouri.

Implementing a state registry ID card system in Missouri, which would make it easy for law enforcement to quickly determine that a patient has his or her doctor's recommendation for medical marijuana use, is the right thing to do. Please send your legislators an e-mail today urging them to support a medical marijuana bill this session and to make sure that it is assigned to a committee so that it can receive a hearing.

If you are a medical professional, a law enforcement officer, a clergy member, a member of the legal community, or a patient who could benefit from the medical use of marijuana, please e-mail Nathan@mpp.org to see how you can be of special help.
