Help pass medical marijuana bill through the Health Care Policy Committee

Published: March 10, 2004

The House Health Care Policy Committee is deciding whether to pass Missouri's medical marijuana bill, H.B. 1348, out of committee. Now is your chance to help improve its odds: Your representative is a member of the committee, so it is especially important that you tell him or her that you support H.B. 1348 and ask him or her to support the bill. If your representative would vote to advance the bill, please ask him or her to tell committee Chairman Roy Holand (R-135th House District) that he or she intends to vote "yes."

Please take a few moments to Take Action. After you choose your favorite pre-written letter and type in your address, our site will automatically e-mail your letter to your representative … all with the click of a few buttons. The whole process takes less than two minutes, but it makes a world of difference. Also, you can print the letter and send it to your representative through regular mail.

Representative Vicki Walker (D-50th House District) introduced H.B. 1348 with Representatives Thomas Villa (D-108th House District), Vicky Riback Wilson (D-25th House District), and Jenée Lowe (D-44th House District) on January 29. This medical marijuana bill would protect glaucoma, cancer, and HIV-positive patients from arrest, prosecution, and any other penalties for growing, using, or possessing an adequate supply of medical marijuana per their doctors' written recommendations. And the bill would allow registered nonprofit organizations and caregivers to distribute medical marijuana to qualified patients. Last week, the committee heard powerful testimony in support of the bill from a lawyer, a doctor, a nurse, and a multiple sclerosis patient. Please don't forget to make sure it hears from you, too.

Thank you for supporting the Marijuana Policy Project. Please tell others about this site so that even more voices can speak out for reform.
