URGENT: Coalition of Minnesota religious leaders support medical marijuana; contact your state legislator now!

This past Monday, fifty religious leaders throughout the state urged the Minnesota House to pass S.F. 345, which would allow seriously ill patients to use medical marijuana with their doctors' recommendations. These religious leaders join hundreds of doctors, thousands of nurses, and several major Minnesota medical organizations in calling for the passage of a compassionate medical marijuana law.

But legislators in the House have still delayed action on the bill — it is absolutely urgent that they hear from you today! There is very little time left in Minnesota's legislative session, so there is no time to lose. Please take action in support of Minnesota's medical marijuana patients immediately.

Denominations with official positions supporting medical marijuana include the United Methodist Church, Presbyterian Church (USA), Union for Reform Judaism, Episcopal Church, and United Church of Christ. In addition to clergy from these denominations, medical marijuana supporters in Minnesota include clergy from Catholic, Evangelical, Lutheran, and Baptist congregations.

The bill also has the support of major medical organizations like the Minnesota Nurses Association, the Minnesota Public Health Association, and the Minnesota AIDS Project. And nearly 3,000 Minnesota medical professionals have signed statements of principle in support of its passage.

Despite this broad support throughout the medical and faith communities, there are still members of the Minnesota House who are on the fence about medical marijuana and House leadership has yet to call the bill. Please e-mail your representative immediately, even if you have already done so in the past. These legislators are waiting today for action on other bills and are literally in front of their computers right now, so there's no better time for you to contact them. Minnesota could become the 13th medical state within the week, but only if you take action now!
