Minnesota medical marijuana bill passes committee

Published: April 5, 2005

S.F. 1973—the bipartisan medical marijuana bill—passed through the Senate Health and Family Security Committee tonight by a 5-2 voice vote, just before the first committee deadline. This is the first time a medical marijuana bill has ever passed a committee in Minnesota. Now let's build on the momentum.

Please take a moment to visit http://mpp.org/MN/action.html to write a letter to your legislators urging them to support medical marijuana this session. In the past two weeks, Marijuana Policy Project members have sent valuable intelligence from their legislators to us at MPP, and together we're moving this bill forward. Your letters really do make a difference.

This committee victory, however, would never have been possible without the courage of the patients and their caregivers who risked so much to stand up and volunteer to speak out tonight: Sue Wild, Jerome Schaffer, Tracey Herrly, Jason McDonough, Darrell Paulson, and Don Haumant. Your courage, sacrifice, and commitment are truly an inspiration.

Thank you for supporting the Marijuana Policy Project. Please forward this e-mail on to your friends around Minnesota so that we can flood the legislature with letters.
