Minnesota medical marijuana bill going to Senate floor -- Act now

Published: April 27, 2007

The Senate Finance Committee passed S.F. 345 in a voice vote today, marking the fourth and final committee hurdle that this legislation needed to clear. The bill is now headed to the Senate floor, and Minnesota's suffering patients need you to help in the following four ways to ensure that it passes.

1) Call your senator and urge him or her to vote in favor of S.F. 345. If you do not know who your state senator is, you can click here to find out. Remember to be polite when talking to the senator or staff member. When you call, you can keep your message simple. After saying your name and town, please urge the senator to vote for S.F. 345, the medical marijuana bill.

2) Please write a letter to your state senator, urging him or her to support the medical marijuana bill. With just a few clicks, our automated system will allow you to send a pre-written letter to your senator, or you can compose the letter yourself.

3) Forward this message to your friends, family, and neighbors in Minnesota. I know that many of you have already taken action. So, please ask your friends and neighbors to write and call their senators as well. It's imperative that senators hear from as many supportive people as possible.

4) Please click here to send a letter to the editor of your local papers, expressing your hope that lawmakers will end Minnesota's cruel policy of criminalizing the seriously ill. Our automated system will allow you to easily send a letter to newspapers in Minnesota. It takes only a few moments, but it can make a world of difference. Feel free to draw from the talking points that we have provided, but remember that a personalized letter is more likely to be published than a form letter.

Victory is within reach, but the fight for compassion in Minnesota is not over. Let's do all we can to make sure that the Senate passes S.F. 345 this year.

So, please pitch in to enact this compassionate bill: If you have not done so already, please write your state legislators and submit a letter to the editor of one or more local newspapers. Then, ask your friends and family to do the same. Thank you for your support and compassion.
