Medical marijuana bill introduced in Minnesota Legislature

Published: April 7, 2003

On April 2, Representatives Sheldon Johnson (D-St. Paul) and Alice Hausman (D-St. Paul) introduced a bill in the Minnesota Legislature that would protect medical marijuana patients from criminal penalties. This bill, H.F. 1440, would also establish a registry system for patients and their primary caregivers.

Please contact your legislators and urge them to support H.F. 1440.

Making your opinion known to your legislators is the key to passing medical marijuana legislation: Only you can convince them that this issue is important to Minnesota residents.

Please take a few moments to Take Action. After you choose your favorite pre-written letter and type in your address, our site will automatically e-mail your letter to your legislators … all with the click of a few buttons. The whole process takes less than two minutes, but it makes a world of difference. Also, you can print the letters and send them to your legislators through regular mail.

Under current Minnesota law, medical marijuana patients face the threat of arrest and a fine of up to $200 for possession. If this bill is passed, Minnesota will join the eight other states that protect such individuals from arrest. For the full text of this bill, see Bills Pending.

Thank you for supporting the Marijuana Policy Project. Please tell others in Minnesota about this legislation, so that even more people can speak out for reform.
