Title:
Hearing on medical marijuana initiative delayed
Message:
Earlier today, the Fourth Judicial District Court issued a continuance in MPP's lawsuit against the city of Minneapolis. This means that the fate of the medical marijuana initiative is still uncertain. The hearing has been scheduled for next Monday, September 13, at 1:45 p.m.
MPP will continue to update you about the status of the lawsuit and the initiative as events unfold.
In the meantime, please express your outrage to the eight City Council members who voted to block the initiative from appearing on the ballot. You can do so by calling as many of them as you can and leaving the following message:
"I recently learned that you voted to block the medical marijuana charter amendment from appearing on the November ballot, ignoring the will of more than 12,000 Minneapolis residents. As a voter and a Minnesotan, I am upset that you acted to disenfranchise 12,000 of my fellow Minnesotans."
The following City Council members voted to block the initiative from appearing on the ballot.
Paul Ostrow (Ward 1): (612) 673-2201 Donald Samuels (Ward 3): (612) 673-2203 Barbara Johnson (Ward 4): (612) 673-2204 Lisa Goodman (Ward 7): (612) 673-2207 Dan Niziolek (Ward 10): (612) 673-2210 Scott Benson (Ward 11): (612) 673-2211 Sandy Colvin Roy (Ward 12): (612) 673-2212 Barret Lane (Ward 13): (612) 673-2213
Thank you for supporting the Marijuana Policy Project. Please pass this on so that others may speak out for reform.
