COHR submits final petitions, meets signature requirement

Published: August 31, 2004

Yesterday, Citizens Organized for Harm Reduction (COHR) completed its petitioning effort by submitting 690 additional signatures from Minneapolis residents. Because the Minneapolis Elections Office has validated at least 419 of these so far, COHR has surpassed the 7,774-signature requirement.

As you may recall, the Minneapolis City Council voted 8-4 on August 20 to block the charter amendment from appearing on the ballot. MPP is aggressively exploring our options to force the City Council to place this charter amendment on the ballot and respect the will of over 12,000 Minneapolitans. We will announce by the end of this week how we plan on proceeding.

Thank you for supporting the Marijuana Policy Project. Please pass this on so that others may speak out for reform.
