Title:
Ask legislators to sign letter to President Bush
Message:
The constitutional deadline for the 2002 Minnesota legislature to adjourn is Monday, May 20.
Although the legislature failed to consider this year any of the medical marijuana bills that were introduced in 2001, you can still encourage your elected representatives to take immediate action in support of patients who need legal protection for using medical marijuana.
Over the last year, state legislators from across the country have been signing a letter to President Bush, asking him to allow seriously ill people to apply for an exception to the federal government's harsh marijuana laws.
More than 300 legislators from 43 states and the District of Columbia have signed the letter, including 17 from Minnesota.
Also, take a moment and visit the Take Action link where you can automatically e-mail your own legislators, encouraging them to sign the letter to Bush if they have not done so already. As the national list of supportive legislators continues to grow, the Bush administration will be more inclined to soften its stance on medical marijuana.
This will be the last chance to communicate with many Minnesota lawmakers before they return to their homes and prepare for the upcoming elections. Your correspondence could leave a lasting impression on them regarding the importance of medical marijuana.
