The Michigan Coalition for Compassionate Care needs your help!

We are quickly approaching Labor Day and, as you can see by the proliferation of yard signs around the state, campaign season is upon us again!

In fact, there are only 82 days left before Election Day, and the Michigan Coalition for Compassionate Care (MCCC) — MPP’s Michigan campaign committee — needs your help. MCCC is working to pass the medical marijuana initiative in Michigan this November and needs volunteers like you to pitch in! If you can spare even an hour of your time in the next few weeks, please sign up to volunteer or contact Matt Witemyre, MCCC’s statewide organizer, directly.

There are a number of different volunteer activities going on right now. Here are five to consider:

1. Please urge all of your friends, family, and neighbors to sign up for MCCC alerts, and do so yourself if you have not already. Please forward this message to anyone you think might be interested.

2. As the campaign continues to build momentum, we expect to see much more media coverage in the coming months. MCCC will need people to help respond to the media with letters to the editor of their local papers.

3. MCCC also wants to have a strong visual presence throughout the state with yard signs. Once a ballot number is officially assigned to the medical marijuana initiative by the state, will you commit to helping distribute and place yard signs in your area? You can begin by keeping a list of medical marijuana supporters in your area who would want a yard sign. This would be an enormous help to the campaign.

4. There are also internships available this fall with MCCC for college credit. You can read a brief description of the program here.

5. MCCC also needs help spreading the word by posting fliers, especially at college campuses throughout the area. Please let us know if you’re willing to help us spread the word through fliering.

Our on-the-ground organizers are still patiently awaiting the ballot number, and we will let you know what it is as soon as it is received from the state. In the meantime, please consider volunteering an hour or two of your time. We need your help to make history!

We are entering a very exciting time in Michigan. With hard work and determination, we will pass the medical marijuana initiative at the polls this November 4. Thank you for supporting this historic effort to protect Michigan’s medical marijuana patients!
