Title:
Michigan bill would recognize, regulate dispensaries
Message:
Huge news in Michigan. After the Michigan Supreme Court’s ruling in State v. McQueen effectively banned most dispensaries in the state, Rep. Mike Callton (R-Nashville) has introduced legislation that would allow cities and towns in Michigan to decide whether to allow dispensaries and, if so, to regulate them just as they would any other business.
Urge your legislators to support HB 4271.
There’s reason to be optimistic. Callton’s bill has broad bi-partisan support — eight Republicans and eight Democrats. And following the McQueen decision, many in the state have called on the legislature to clarify just how patients who can’t find a caregiver are supposed to obtain marijuana. In other words, the legislature is under pressure to act.
Still, nothing will get done unless supporters like you contact your elected officials and urge them to support Callton’s bill. Don’t stop there either. Forward this message to friends and ask them to do the same, or write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. With your help, we can give patients in Michigan a safe way to obtain doctor-recommended medicine.
