MA: Vote for marijuana on Nov. 2

Message:

On November 2, voters in 73 municipalities across Massachusetts will be asked their opinion on marijuana policy in the voting booths. Please visit the Drug Policy Forum of Massachusetts to make sure you know whether a question will appear on your ballot.

Thanks to the efforts of the Drug Policy Forum of Massachusetts (DPFMA), the Massachusetts Cannabis Reform Coalition (MassCann/NORML), Suffolk University NORML, the UMass Amherst Cannabis Reform Coalition, and War on Lies, public policy questions (PPQs) will ask roughly 13% of Massachusetts voters if they support reforming marijuana laws in the Bay State. Although results of these questions are non-binding, strong support for reform will help signal to legislators that reform is necessary and important to their constituents. Please remember to get out and vote to support medical marijuana and a taxed and regulated system of marijuana distribution on November 2!

There are two different versions of medical marijuana PPQs on certain ballots. Although they vary slightly in their wording, both questions ask voters if they support medical access to marijuana with a doctor’s recommendation. Likewise, there are two slightly different questions asking voters whether they support taxed and regulated distribution of marijuana to adults, much like the regulations placed on a more dangerous substance, alcohol. The Marijuana Policy Project encourages our supporters to vote “Yes” on all of these questions.

Finally, we are incredibly grateful to the efforts of the Drug Policy Forum of Massachusetts for putting together a complete list of the municipalities where these questions will appear, as well as the specific questions that will be on the ballot. Be sure to visit the site to see whether a question will appear on your ballot.

Thanks so much for your commitment to this issue. With your help, we can send a clear message to legislators in Boston that it is time to reform the Bay State’s marijuana laws!
