Jamie Raskin's medical marijuana battle gets personal

 

The Washington Post talks with Sen. Jamie Raskin about his renewed interest in medical marijuana legislation. As fate would have it, Raskin, who sponsored SB 627 in 2010, was diagnosed with colon cancer just a month after leading the floor debate and passing the bill in the Senate.

Excerpt: "Public health is now personal for me," Raskin said. "I know what it means for people to be living on the absolute edge of hope and despair, and politicians should not get in the way of people getting the medical relief they need."
