You live in the most important district in Maryland
Message:
As you’ve probably heard, Gov. O’Malley threatened to veto a medical marijuana bill written by one of his own political appointees based on unfounded concerns that state employees could be arrested by federal officials for implementing the law. As a result, a bill that would have provided patients with access to doctor-recommended medicine has been amended to provide caregivers with a legal defense for possession of marijuana instead.
Unfortunately, even this modest proposal, which satisfies all of the governor’s concerns, is being held up by your elected official: Del. Joe Vallario.
Please call Del. Vallario and ask him to bring up medical marijuana legislation for a vote.
As chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Chairman Vallario determines what bills advance out of that committee and what bills do not. We need him to let the committee vote on amendments to our bill, HB 15, before it can be approved by the full legislature.
The legislative session ends Monday, so we need to act now. Please call Del. Vallario right now and ask him to schedule HB 15 for a vote. If you don’t have time to call, it takes less than a minute to send a pre-written email.
Thanks for your support.
