Title:
O’Malley reverses course; now favors medical marijuana
Message:
You did it! Over the last year, hundreds of emails and phone calls from MPP supporters have been flooding Gov. Martin O’Malley’s office, and it has finally paid off. Friday, I was in Annapolis to testify in favor of medical marijuana legislation and, to everyone’s surprise, so were officials from the O’Malley administration. Remember this the next time you’re feeling cynical about politics or don’t think your phone calls and emails make a difference.
Of course, we’re not done yet. We still need you to contact your legislators and urge them to follow-up and pass medical marijuana legislation.
There’s more good news. Remember the committee vote on marijuana decriminalization we told you about last week? By a vote of 8-3, the bill passed and will soon be voted on by the full Senate. Keep the pressure on by asking your elected officials to remove criminal penalties for marijuana possession in Maryland.
