Last week, we told you about a heartless move by Gov. Martin O’Malley, who threatened to veto medical marijuana legislation based on a preposterous fear that federal officials would arrest state employees for implementing the law. This week, patients came together in Annapolis to testify before a key Senate committeeand to ask Gov. O’Malley to show them the compassion they deserve. Here’s a powerful video featuring a few of their stories; please forward it to your friends and post it to your social networks.
Call Governor O’Malley today and ask him to stand up for patients in Maryland by supporting medical marijuana legislation.
After you’ve called the governor, it’ll take you less than a minute to use our automated system to send an email to your state legislators. In response to the governor’s veto threat, the bill has been amended to provide legal protections to caregivers and we need it to pass in amended form by Monday. The amended bill is not perfect, but it would be another step forward. Let’s take that step, and we’ll keep fighting for more.
