Maryland spokesperson training for medical marijuana activists on August 11

Americans for Safe Access is holding a training session for any patients or activists in Maryland interested in becoming more comfortable speaking in public and to the media about medical marijuana. The training session will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 11, at the Silver Spring Library. This session will provide information on identifying key media contacts, making your message relevant so it gets covered, preparing for and doing interviews, and much more. It will also be an excellent opportunity to meet other activists in Maryland who are working to improve the law.

What: Media training for anyone interested in helping to improve Maryland's medical marijuana law

When: Monday, August 11, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Where: Silver Spring Library, 8901 Colesville Rd., Silver Spring, MD 20910

Current Maryland law protects seriously ill patients from being sentenced to prison for possessing marijuana if they can prove a "medical necessity" for using it. However, it does not protect them from arrest, and it does not provide them with safe access to their medicine (such as by cultivation). MPP is working with the Drug Policy Alliance and Americans for Safe Access to improve the law in Maryland. We hope you will be able to attend this training event on Monday.

Thank you for supporting MPP and our allies. Please pass this message on to your friends and family who might be interested in attending.
