Maryland: Medical marijuana bill introduction happening now!

Published: January 31, 2011

Ask your senators and representatives to co-sponsor.

As you may have seen in the news, Montel Williams came to Maryland to help make the case for effective medical marijuana legislation in his home state. Williams was joined by last year’s sponsors – Del. Morhaim, Sen. Raskin, and Sen. Brinkley – and about a dozen other legislators at a press conference last week to urge General Assembly members to make this the year that patients in Maryland no longer live under the threat of arrest for using doctor-recommended medicine. The bills will be introduced this week.

Please ask your elected officials to co-sponsor medical marijuana legislation in Maryland.

One way to generate momentum for passing the bill is to secure a broad, bi-partisan group of co-sponsors. Last year’s bill passed the Senate by a wide margin, but stalled in the House. An impressive list of co-sponsors could be what’s needed to convince House leadership to give the bill the up-or-down vote patients deserve. Please write your elected officials today and ask them to sign on as co-sponsors to this year’s medical marijuana bill.

Also, stay tuned to our e-mail alerts. You’ll be the first to know about committee hearings and other important opportunities for you to get involved.

Thanks for all you do,
