It's time to educate

Message:

As you may have heard, LD 1229, An Act to Regulate and Tax Marijuana, finally had roll call votes in both the Maine House and Senate. Unfortunately, the legislature defeated the bill 71-67 in the House and 24-10 in the Senate. While disappointing, the legislation fared far better than the last time a similar bill was introduced. We have therefore demonstrated that there is momentum toward making marijuana legal for all adults in Maine.

And the fight has only begun!

We know that it is only a matter of time before we end marijuana prohibition in Maine. In fact, Portland voters will have a chance to remove all penalties for marijuana possession THIS November.

This summer is shaping up to be very exciting here in Maine. We will soon be launching a public education campaign throughout the state. We will be educating Mainers about the fact that marijuana is safer than alcohol and that marijuana use does not make someone a bad person.

We need YOUR help educating voters. Can you commit to volunteering a weekend this summer? It is simple; we will be hitting the streets and having conversations with our neighbors.

If you are interested in "Talking It Up," then please reply to this email, and we will inform you about opportunities throughout the summer.

We hope you will join us. The more Mainers we educate, the more public support we will have.

P.S. Please shoot me an email back if you can volunteer. We need all hands on deck this summer!
