Iowa: Medical marijuana legislation introduced in Des Moines!

Message:

Ask your representative to support sensible medical marijuana legislation today!

Yesterday, State Representative Bruce Hunter (D – Des Moines) filed HF 22, a bill that would create a medical marijuana program in Iowa. This sensible legislation would exempt patients in Iowa suffering from cancer, HIV/AIDS, ALS, severe pain and nausea, and other ailments from arrest and prosecution for using marijuana under their physicians’ recommendations. Patients or their caregivers would be able to grow their medicine, or they could obtain it from a nonprofit dispensary.

Please email your state representative asking her or him to support this sensible bill. It’s time Iowa join the 18 states (and Washington, D.C.) that exempt medical use of marijuana from criminal law. It’s time to stop treating the seriously ill in Iowa like criminals!

It’s vital that the silent majority that supports medical marijuana legislation speak up. Our friends and neighbors deserve that much. Please email your representative today, and then ask your friends and family in The Hawkeye State to do the same!
