Title:
Iowa: Medical marijuana legislation scheduled for subcommittee hearing
Message:
Ask your senator to support sensible medical marijuana legislation today!
On Monday, March 4 at 11:00 a.m., the Senate Human Resources Subcommittee will meet to take testimony on SF 79, a bill introduced by Sen. Joe Bolkcom and three of his colleagues. SF 79 would create a medical marijuana program in Iowa. This sensible legislation would exempt patients in Iowa suffering from cancer, HIV/AIDS, ALS, severe pain and nausea, and other ailments from arrest and prosecution for using marijuana under their physicians’ recommendations. Patients or their caregivers would be able to grow their medicine, or they could obtain it from a nonprofit dispensary.
Please email your state senator, asking her or him to support this sensible bill. It’s time Iowa join the 18 states and Washington, D.C., that exempt medical use of marijuana from criminal law. It’s time to stop treating the seriously ill in Iowa like criminals!
It’s important for citizens to let their elected officials know how they feel about policy issues. Please email your senator today, and then ask your friends and family in the Hawkeye State to do the same!
