Deadline for committee to approve bill is approaching

The Iowa legislature has been in session for three weeks and the deadline for committees to approve bills is Friday, February 22, just two weeks from tomorrow.

Thank you to everyone who has used MPP's Iowa Web site to e-mail their state legislators, encouraging them to support medical marijuana. Direct communication with legislators is the greatest way to influence their preferences and priorities during the session.

Unfortunately, only 23 Iowa residents have sent e-mails this year, despite the fact that more than 250 people in the state receive MPP's alerts.

Not surprisingly, the House Committee on Human Resources has yet to schedule the medical marijuana bill, H.F. 658, for a hearing.

If you have not already e-mailed the committee, please visit /IA today.

It only takes a few minutes to select and submit a letter that could be the decisive message that leads to progress for this bill.

Also, be sure to forward this alert to others in Iowa who might be interested in taking action on medical marijuana. The more e-mails committee members receive, the more likely they will support the bill.

As always, thank you for your help in the effort to protect patients in the state who need to use medical marijuana.
