(NBC) — Medical marijuana could have a whole new meaning after a new study has suggested pot may someday be used to treat brain cancer.
Researchers found the active component of marijuana, called THC, caused brain cancer cells to die in both mice and human patients.
In the study, THC successfully shrank an aggressive type of brain tumor by killing brain cancer cell lines.
This study did not involve smoking marijuana.
Rather, scientists say the research could someday lead to new cancer drugs. |
