Deputy Arrested in Drug Raid Expects to Be Exonerated

Indianapolis — A Marion County deputy arrested during drug raids expects to be exonerated, saying he did nothing wrong.

Metro Police took Special Deputy Darrell Greer into custody at his west side home this week. Federal, state and local officers made almost two dozen arrests during the raids. They targeted members of the drug ring called the Haughville Syndicate.

Greer says officers showed up at the home he just started renting on the west side looking for one of their suspects who used to live there. An intense search turned up a used marijuana cigarette and paraphernalia in his basement, but Greer says he knew nothing about the drugs.

Greer is confident his name will be cleared.

"I just had a drug test about a month ago. Yesterday morning I had to go down and take another drug test. When the first one was negative and this will be negative because I never done drugs in my life," Greer said.

Sheriff Frank Anderson requires all law enforcement employees to undergo random drug tests. Greer is on administrative leave until his court date later this month.
