Historic vote Monday; Tell your senator to vote to study legalization!
Published: February 19, 2011
On Monday, February 21, the Indiana Senate will vote on a groundbreaking
marijuana study commission bill. S.B. 192
would require a legislative committee to evaluate Indiana’s marijuana laws, and
discuss alternatives such as ending prohibition, decriminalizing possession, or
allowing medical marijuana.
Please take action and e-mail all the
senators, asking them to co-author and support S.B. 192. Hoosier
legislators need to hear from you about why Indiana's marijuana laws need revision.
Please pass this on to your friends and family so that everyone you
know can take action on this important bill to change Indiana’s future.
If S.B. 192 passes, the policy committee would study
and make recommendations over the summer on what the appropriate penalties
(if any) should be for marijuana possession, whether and how to implement a
medical marijuana program, and whether marijuana should be taxed and regulated
like alcohol. It passed out of the Republican-controlled Senate Corrections,
Criminal, and Civil Matters committee with a 5-3
vote on Tuesday, after some excellent testimony by supporters.
Thank you for your support!
