Illinois Patients Plead to the General Assembly to Enact a Medical Marijuana Law
Hundreds of Illinois' seriously ill are counting on the General Assembly to enact the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Pilot Program Act, sponsored by Sen. William Haine (D-Alton) and Rep. Lou Lang (D-Skokie).

Legislative Summary
The Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Pilot Program Act would allow certain patients with diseases like cancer, multiple sclerosis, and HIV/AIDS to relieve their debilitating symptoms with marijuana according to their doctors' advice without facing arrest and incarceration. The bills are SB 1381 and HB 2514. Both bills have passed committee and are now awaiting a floor vote.

Both Republicans and Democrats have sponsored and voted for this legislation in Illinois, making it a true bipartisan effort.
