Reminder: Senate medical marijuana bill set for hearing this Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.

Please determine if you are a constituent of a committee member and, if so, call your senator before the hearing!

First, many thanks to everyone who took action on our last alert. Hundreds of people have now contacted their legislators in regard to this year's bill. We now need constituents of committee members to make one last push before this Wednesday's hearing.

Click here to find out if one of the committee members represents your district and, if so, take action to ensure SB 2865 receives a favorable recommendation.

If you are a constituent of one of the committee members and could qualify under the provisions of SB 2865, we urge you to set up a personal meeting with your legislator sometime this week. Qualifying conditions include: cancer, glaucoma, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C, ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), Crohn's disease, agitation from Alzheimer's disease, and nail patella. Doctors may also recommend medical marijuana for cachexia or wasting syndrome; severe pain; severe nausea; seizures, including but not limited to those characteristic of epilepsy; and severe and persistent muscle spasms, including but not limited to those characteristic of multiple sclerosis.

If you are a constituent of a committee member and could qualify under the provisions of SB 2865, please click here to locate your senator's phone number to set up a personal meeting.

Thank you for supporting the Marijuana Policy Project and helping us put an end to the insane policy of arresting and jailing the seriously ill. Please pass this alert on to other reasonable people in Illinois who might be interested in helping patients get the protection they need.
