Title:
MPP hits the airwaves in Illinois
Message:
We
told you a few weeks back that that despite the narrow loss in the House on
November 30, SB 1381 is still alive and MPP will fight on. To that end, I’m
happy to tell you that we recently produced a new radio ad aimed at generating
constituent contact with legislators. The ads feature Chicago-area advocate
Julie Falco, who suffers from multiple sclerosis. You can listen to the ads at mpp.org/Julie.
We
decided to go with a simple, direct testimonial from a patient who can speak
from experience. “I’ve tried many kinds of prescription drugs to control the
extreme pain I live with every day,” Falco says in the 60-second version of the
ad. “I’ve found that cannabis works best for me,” she continues. “In Illinois,
though, it’s a crime for me to use my medicine, even though my doctor
recommends it.” She closes the ad by asking listeners to, “go to protectpatients.org and ask your
representative to support Senate Bill 1381.”
The
ads are running this week in the Chicago, Quad Cities, Rockford, and Peoria
markets. We’re running them again the first week of January when the bill could
be called for another vote. Of course, it takes money to keep these ads on the
air, so if you’d like to hear them again please donate
to MPP.
We’re
not giving up, and we ask that you not give up either. Please visit protectpatients.org and ask your legislator to
support SB 1381.
Thanks,
and happy holidays!
