Medical marijuana vote possible next week
Published: November 15, 2010
Bill
sponsor hopes to call House vote on SB 1381 during next week’s veto session. Contact
your representative now!
According to the sponsor of SB
1381, the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Pilot Program Act, we’re just
two votes short of the majority we need. With just a few weeks to go until
the end of the legislative session, we’ll need your help to get to the finish
line.
Tell your representative to vote “yes” on SB 1381, Rep. Lang’s medical
cannabis bill.
The hope is that now, with
the election behind us, those representatives who may have been a little
shy about casting a vote on this bill will now be free to vote their
conscience. There are two “veto sessions” coming up this month, at which
legislators can call any bill, not just those that have been vetoed, to a vote.
The first is November 16-18, and the second is at the end of the month. For
procedural reasons, the bill may have to go back to the Senate for one more
vote, so we don’t want to waste any time. We
need you to contact your representative today and urge him or her to support
SB 1381. If you get a response, please forward it to me at driffle@mpp.org. As soon as we know we have
the numbers we need, we’ll call the bill for a vote in the House.
One last favor: please forward this e-mail to at least three
of your friends, or better yet, post the link (https://secure2.convio.net/mpp/site/Advocacy?cmd=display&page=UserAction&id=511) on your Facebook page. Thanks so much for all that you do!
