Illinois medical marijuana bill passes first House committee -- ever!

Earlier today, the House Human Services Committee passed HB 2514 with a 4-3 vote. This is a true bipartisan bill that would allow seriously ill patients with certain debilitating conditions to use medical marijuana upon the recommendation of a physician.

A companion bill, SB 1381, is expected to receive a hearing in the Senate Public Health Committee next Tuesday.

If you have not already, please send your lawmakers an e-mail urging them to support this compassionate legislation.

This could be the year that Illinois finally enacts an effective medical marijuana law, but we need everyone to step up and reach out to his or her legislators in order to make this happen. By completing at least one of the actions listed here, you could make a world of difference.

Thank you for supporting the Marijuana Policy Project and all of our allies. Please pass this alert along to anyone you know in Illinois who would like to get more involved in the effort to make Illinois the 14th medical marijuana state.
