Title:

Illinois medical marijuana bill should move soon

Message:

There’s an important deadline coming up later this month in the Illinois House of Representatives. April 19 is the “third reading deadline.” That’s the date that bills introduced in the House must be approved in order to move over to the Senate and still have a chance of passing. There are exceptions, so HB 1 isn’t necessarily dead if it’s not approved by then, but our goal is to get this through the House this month.

Help us make that happen by emailing your state representative.

We’ve been hard at work generating positive coverage of medical marijuana, like this Springfield Journal Review story that ran last month and this Rockford Register Star story that ran last week. Yesterday, a news service in Springfield read by nearly every legislator reprinted much of an opinion piece written by the sponsor of the bill, Rep. Lou Lang.

We’ve come a long way, but we need your help to get over the finish line. Ask your legislators to support medical marijuana, then send this message to your friends and ask them to do the same. Thanks!
