Ill.: Veto session starts tomorrow; act now

Tomorrow, the Illinois General Assembly will reconvene for the first of two short veto sessions. Among the many pieces of legislation the legislature might take up is House Bill 30, which would create a three-year pilot program for the medical use of marijuana.

Please call your state representative now and urge him or her to vote “yes” on HB 30.

If passed, HB 30 would allow doctors to recommend medical marijuana for patients with one of a limited number of specified debilitating conditions. Patients would obtain a registry card from the Illinois Department of Public Health (DPH) and could then obtain medical marijuana from one of up to 59 dispensaries located throughout the state and regulated by DPH.

Time is short. Please call your legislator now and urge him or her to support HB 30. All you have to do is type in your address, and we’ll give you your representative’s name and number and a short list of talking points for your call. It’ll only take a minute, so please make a call now. Then, please share this alert with your friends and family in Illinois so that they, too, can ask their representatives to stand up for patients.
