Title:

Ill. medical marijuana vote delayed

Message:

I spent this week in Springfield with patients and advocates from across the state trying to find the last three votes we needed to get a compassionate medical marijuana bill passed in Illinois. The bad news: we haven’t passed it yet. Rep. Lou Lang, who sponsors the bill, decided he was still just shy of the total he needed to pass it. The good news: the bill could still be called as early as Tuesday.

Please call or email your state representative and ask him or her to support HB 30.

It’s amazing that in this day and age, legislators still think that medical marijuana is a “controversial” issue. Yesterday, CBS released a poll showing 83% of Americans support medical marijuana. That’s an astonishingly high number, and we’ll make sure that everyone in the General Assembly is aware of it.

Next week’s session, the last for this year, starts on Tuesday and will only last two or three days. We’re close, but our time is short. Please make a call or send an email today. Once you’ve made your call, please share this message to ask your friends and family in Illinois to speak out for compassion.
