If you haven’t heard the good news, the Illinois House of Representatives recently passed HB 1, a bill that would establish a medical marijuana program in Illinois. Not only does this mean the measure is a big step closer to becoming law, it also gives us a record of where legislators stand on this issue. That’s valuable information, and we need to take advantage of it by thanking those legislators who supported it and reminding those who didn’t that we’ll remember their vote on Election Day.

Even though the vote is history, our job isn’t done. In addition to passing the bill in the Senate, we need to let legislators who opposed medical marijuana know that there are political consequences to their opposition.
