Title:

Another medical marijuana state; Illinois next?

Message:

Lost in all the commotion over Colorado and Washington passing measures to tax and regulate marijuana on Tuesday is the news that Massachusetts became the 18th state to remove criminal penalties for the physician-approved use of medical marijuana. As you may know, Illinois is very, very close to passing a medical marijuana law of its own. And that might happen as soon as this year.

The legislature will be back in Springfield for a special “veto session” later this month. I’ll be there, along with several patients from throughout Illinois, to talk to legislators about the need to pass HB 30 and provide compassionate relief to sick and suffering patients throughout Illinois. We hope to get it done, but I need your help. Please write your elected officials right now and ask them to pass HB 30.

The emails are pre-written (though you can edit them), and we’ll find your legislators for you, so it’ll only take two minutes of your time. And hearing from constituents really is the most effective tool we have for persuading legislators to support the bill. It’s effective and it’s easy, so please write them today.

Thanks, and we’ll keep you posted.
