Help improve Hawaii’s medical marijuana program
Published: February 4, 2011
On Tuesday, February
8, the Senate Committee on Public Safety, Government Operations, and
Military Affairs will meet at 2:45 p.m.
in conference
room 224 to take testimony on three bills, all sponsored by Sen. Will
Espero, that would improve Hawaii’s medical marijuana law. Please consider submitting
written testimony to the committee in favor of these bills. For your
convenience, you can find a list of effective talking points in favor of these
bills here.
SB 58
would increase the amount of medical marijuana a patient and caregiver can
possess at any given time to 10 plants and five useable ounces. The bill makes other
positive changes, including adding greater patient and physician protections by
strengthening confidentiality provisions.
SB 113 would
establish a medical marijuana research program in Hawaii, which could further
increase our knowledge of the therapeutic benefits of marijuana.
Finally, SB 175
would transfer jurisdiction over the medical marijuana program from the Department
of Public Safety to the health department.
Committee members need to hear that Hawaiians support these improvements.
Please submit testimony to the committee today! Feel free to use our bill-specific talking points.
