Title:
Hawaii: House Health and Judiciary Committees to consider changes to medical marijuana law
Message:
Submit testimony in support of H.B. 667 and H.B. 668 today
On Friday morning, the House Judiciary and Health Committees will meet in a joint session to consider H.B. 667 and H.B. 668 – both introduced by Rep. Della Belatti (D). H.B. 667 would make many needed reforms to Hawaii’s medical marijuana program, including increasing the amount of medical marijuana patients can grow and possess and allowing for reciprocity for out-of-state patients. H.B. 668 would transfer jurisdiction of the medical marijuana program from the department of safety to the department of health. Submit your testimony now in support of these sensible bills.
Hawaii’s medical marijuana law needs some updates. It fails to protect out-of-state medical marijuana patients and also prohibits a Hawaii patient from giving another patient some medical marijuana. Additionally, common sense dictates that the department of health, not public safety, should govern a medical program. Submit testimony in support of both H.B. 667 and H.B. 668 so that Hawaii lawmakers understand the need for reform.
Sensible changes to the medical marijuana program won’t happen unless lawmakers hear the need for them. Make your voice heard by submitting testimony to the House Health and Judiciary Committees today!
