Title:

Ask your senator to vote "yes" to decriminalize simple possession

Message:

Last Friday, February 25, the Senate Committee on Ways and Means passed SB 1460, a bill that would decriminalize possession of up to an ounce of marijuana in the Aloha State. Passage in Ways and Means moves the bill to the Senate floor, where it will receive a full chamber vote. Please e-mail your senator and ask him or her to vote “yes” on SB 1460 today!

SB 1460, introduced by Sen. Kalani English, would replace the current criminal penalty associated with possession of up to an ounce of marijuana (up to 30 days in jail and/or up to a $1,000 fine) with a simple civil violation of $100. In addition, the bill will ensure that otherwise law-abiding adults will not have to endure the hardships associated with the collateral consequences of a criminal record for simply possessing a small amount of a plant proven safer than alcohol. Ask your senator to support sensible marijuana policy.

A big thanks goes out to all of you who submitted testimony in support of this bill throughout the committee process. With your help, we can move this important bill to the House of Representatives. E-mail your senator today!
