Tallahassee Marijuana Policy Symposium'this Saturday!


MPP is forwarding the following alert as part of its continuing alliance with Tallahasseans for Practical Law Enforcement.


How can you change Florida's marijuana laws? Find out at the Tallahassee Marijuana Policy Symposium.

The recently formed political action committee, Tallahasseans for Practical Law Enforcement (TPLE), is hosting an educational seminar and grassroots training in Tallahassee, Florida. This conference will focus on marijuana policy and how to influence it.

When: Saturday, January 17, 2003, from 11:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Where: Tallahassee, Florida, at the Florida State University Oglesby Student Union Ballrooms

Tentative Schedule of Events

11:30 a.m.: Introduction and TPLE Press Conference

12:00 - 12:45 p.m.: Morning Workshops

  • Workshop 1: Marijuana—the social and economic costs

  • Workshop 2: Marijuana history and policy

1:00 - 1:45 p.m.: Lunch with Keynote Speaker

2:00 - 2:45 p.m.: Afternoon Workshops

  • Workshop 3: How to start a local initiative in your city

  • Workshop 4: Racial discrimination in drug policy

3:00 - 4:30 p.m.: Panel Discussion—four Florida State University professors head a panel to provide their views on the subject, discuss marijuana policy issues, and answer questions from the audience.

The speakers will also discuss the past, present, and future of marijuana policy in the United States and internationally, in such countries as Europe and Canada. TPLE will also conduct four interactive training workshops for citizen activists. This event is entirely free and open to the public.
