Fla.: Free medical marijuana documentary screening on Tuesday at Barry University

This Tuesday at 6:00 p.m., a free screening of the award-winning medical marijuana documentary "Waiting to Inhale" will be held in the Andreas Building, Room 111, at Barry University. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Irvin Rosenfeld, financial advisor and patient who receives medical marijuana from the federal government each month.

This screening takes place on the heels of Michigan voters approving a medical marijuana law for their state, making Michigan the 13th state - and the first in the Midwest - to protect medical marijuana patients from the threat of arrest.

What: "Waiting to Inhale" screening, followed by a discussion with federal medical marijuana patient Irvin Rosenfeld

Where: Andreas Building (No. 21 on this map), Room 111, Barry University, 11300 NE Second Ave., Miami Shores, Fla.

When: Tuesday, November 25, starting at 6:00 p.m.

This event is sponsored by the Department of Sociology and Criminology and the social science honor society Pi Gamma Mu.

"Waiting to Inhale" was produced and directed by Jed Riffe and was partially funded by the Marijuana Policy Project's grants program. The film examines the medical marijuana debate up close by taking you inside the lives of patients, doctors, and activists, while seeking to understand why opponents support the continued criminalization of our sick and dying.

"Waiting to Inhale" has already played to critical acclaim, having won the 2005 CINE Golden Eagle Award, the Gold Special Jury Remi Award at the 38th Annual WorldFest-Houston, and the 2005 Best Documentary Film/Video at the New Jersey International Film Festival.
