D.C.: Tell Mayor Gray to stop wasting your money

Message:

Call Mayor Gray and tell him to back off of Capitol Hemp

Last fall, D.C. police raided two area Capitol Hemp stores known for selling glassware, along with hemp clothing and other accessories. Charges have since been dropped in connection with the Chinatown raid, however the case against owners and operators of the Adams Morgan store continues.

That’s right, in a city with one of the highest crime rates in the country, your tax dollars are being spent to finance raids and prosecutions of people selling hemp-related merchandise, books, and accessories. As if that weren’t enough, one item of “evidence” the police are using to justify the raid is that the stores also stocked a DVD that MPP helped produce entitled “10 Rules for Dealing with the Police.”

As a resident of this city, I’m annoyed at this waste of law enforcement resources. I also can’t help but wonder, if this is how we treat businesses that only sell hemp gear, what can we expect for the soon-to-be-licensed medical marijuana cultivation centers and dispensaries?

Please take a moment to call Mayor Gray’s office and tell him this is a waste of time, police resources, and taxpayer dollars. Let’s send a message that it’s time for the Metro Police Department to focus on real crime.

Thanks!
