Title:
Another big step toward medical marijuana in D.C.
Message:
Late yesterday afternoon, the District of Columbia Department of Health announced the four applicants eligible to register as medical marijuana dispensaries and begin distributing medical marijuana to patients in the fall. For patients who have waited nearly 14 years since District voters approved a medical marijuana law here in the nation’s capital, yesterday’s announcement is welcome news.
In the end, four applicants made the cut. They are: Herbal Alternatives, which will operate in downtown near the corner of 20th and M Street, NW; Center City Care, which will operate a storefront on North Capital Street near New York Avenue; Metropolitan Wellness Center, which will be located on Capitol Hill in the Barracks Row/Eastern Market neighborhood; and finally, Takoma Wellness Center near the Takoma Park metro stop.
The next steps are for cultivation centers to begin producing marijuana and for the District to begin accepting applications from patients with HIV/AIDS, cancer, glaucoma, and multiple sclerosis whose doctors have certified them for participation in the program. Stay tuned to our email alerts to be the first to know. You can also visit the District’s medical marijuana program website for more information.
Thanks for all you do!
