Urge Gov. Markell to protect patients, not the feds!

Message:

Today (Sunday), news broke that Governor Jack Markell has suspended implementation of the Delaware medical marijuana law in light of a letter he received from United States Attorney for Delaware, Charles M. Oberly, III. The letter details enforcement action that the federal government could take against those who comply with the state’s new medical marijuana law. Please email the governor today and ask that he rethink and reverse this decision by implementing state laws to protect seriously and terminally ill Delawareans, instead of enforcing the cruel prohibitionist federal policy.

The language in Oberly’s letter is similar to a U.S. attorneys’ letter that Washington Gov. Christine Gregoire received while a dispensary bill was being considered in her state. The letter was eventually used as her pretext for vetoing medical marijuana dispensaries. However, many states received similar letters and moved forward with their programs. Email Gov. Markell and encourage him to protect patients, not the interests of the federal government.

It’s imperative that Gov. Markell know that his constituents will support a decision to implement the law despite the threatening letter. Forward this to your friends, and email the governor, asking that he stand with Delawareans.
