Monday will be a big day for marijuana reform in Hartford
Published: March 11, 2011
The Joint Committee on the Judiciary will be hearing several
pieces of drug policy reform legislation Monday, including two bills – SB
1014 and SB
1015 – that would decriminalize marijuana and put in place a compassionate
medical marijuana program for seriously ill individuals. We’re asking
supporters to make their presence known because drug warrior zealot and
opponent to the bill, Senator
Toni Boucher (R-Wilton), will be holding
a press conference against the bills. Here are the details for the hearing:
WHAT: Hearing on
SB 1014 (decriminalization) and SB 1015 (medical marijuana)
WHEN: Monday,
March 14 at 10:00 am
WHERE: Legislative Office Building - Room 2C, 300 Capitol Avenue - Hartford, CT 06106
WHO: Members of
the Joint Committee on the Judiciary, as well as advocates and opponents of the
legislation
If
you choose to come for the hearing and/or conference, please remember to dress
appropriately and be polite to everyone with whom you speak – you never know
who might be a legislator. Smelling like marijuana or shouting at opponents
will do more to undermine our progress than anything our opponents can say or
do.
The
real fireworks, and the place for you to make an impact, could be at Sen.
Boucher’s conference. She’ll be joined by Drug
Free America Schools Coalition and the
Connecticut Narcotic Officers Association at 1:00 p.m. in room 1C.
Please join our allies from A Better Way Foundation in showing your support for
these compassionate, sensible proposals. If you can’t make it, we’ve made it
easy for you to share your support for medical
marijuana and decriminalization
with your elected officials.
Thanks for all you do!
