Stand up against a plan to ban medical marijuana edibles!

Published: February 10, 2011

On February 9, one of the most ridiculous pieces of medical marijuana legislation I have ever seen was introduced. HB 1250, sponsored by Rep. Cindy Acree (R – Elizabeth) and Sen. Scott Renfroe (R – Greeley), seeks to ban medical marijuana infused products that are made to be ingested. In effect, patients could no longer medicate with a cookie, a lozenge, or even a sublingual tincture! Please e-mail your legislators today and ask them to oppose this bill!

A ban on ingestible products is, for many patients, effectively taking away their right under Colorado’s constitution to use medical marijuana. Many patients suffering from multiple sclerosis or chronic pain find that edibles best relieve their symptoms. Through consumption, a patient receives necessary steady relief for an extended period of time. If this option is taken away, the same patient will be forced to smoke or vaporize their medicine many times to get similar relief. Let your elected officials know that this bill is unnecessary and unwise.

Patients in Colorado have been using ingestible medical marijuana products for years without any reported problems. Why take that away from them? Please e-mail your legislators and ask them to allow patients to consume medical marijuana edibles.
