Colo.: “YES” on 64!

Message:

We have unbelievable news – although you have probably heard about it already.

According to NBC 9, the people of Colorado have approved Amendment 64 – an initiative to make the possession of marijuana legal for adults 21 and older and to eventually allow the sale of marijuana from regulated vendors!

Please be aware that the law does not take effect until December 6 or until Gov. Hickenlooper certifies the results, whichever is sooner.

Colorado is the first state to repeal state marijuana prohibition and replace it with a system of regulation and taxation. This victory is a direct result of your work: donations, phone calls to family and friends in support of Amendment 64, phone-banking, voting, etc. Marijuana prohibition in Colorado is over because of you.

MPP is proud to have been the primary financial backer of this campaign and to have played a key role in the drafting of the initiative and the coordination of the campaign. Yesterday’s historic victory is the culmination of MPP’s long-time investment in changing marijuana laws in Colorado, dating back to 2004, when we began providing annual grants to Sensible Colorado and SAFER to help them get off the ground in the state.

Please join us in thanking and praising the amazing work of Mason Tvert, Brian Vicente, Betty Aldworth, and all of the talented and focused reformers at the Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol! They ran a sophisticated, intelligent, and aggressive campaign and have proven to be shepherds of historic change.

Thank you again for all of your help. Together, we made history!
